Adam Sandler Announces Production of Happy Gilmore 2 with Exciting Updates

In a recent broadcast of The Tonight Show, the renowned actor Adam Sandler confirmed that the much-anticipated sequel to Happy Gilmore is poised to commence filming in just a few weeks. The follow-up to the beloved 1996 comedy will be shot in the Garden State, New Jersey, and promises to feature a star-studded ensemble of professional golfers. Sandler also hinted at a special cameo by football sensation Travis Kelce.

“We’re set to embark on Happy Gilmore—thanks to everyone’s enthusiasm. This is indeed happening,” Sandler revealed. “We’re gearing up to start shooting in New Jersey very soon. It’s shaping up well. We’ve poured a lot of effort into the script. We aimed to meet everyone’s high expectations. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this for quite some time. We’re thrilled with the progress. Our dedication to writing has been immense. Many golfers have generously agreed to participate.”

Travis Kelce, who is stepping into the acting realm with forthcoming roles in Ryan Murphy’s FX series Grotesquerie and Lionsgate’s action-comedy Loose Cannons, has expressed his eagerness to be a part of this sequel. He recently disclosed his willingness to do anything to land a role in this highly anticipated film.

Additionally, Sandler revealed that the film will feature a notable contribution from director and screenwriter Benny Safdie. “Benny will have a significant role in the sequel. It’s great to collaborate with such talented individuals,” Sandler told IndieWire.

The original Happy Gilmore, directed by Dennis Dugan and released in 1996, starred Adam Sandler in the titular role alongside Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Carl Weathers. The film follows an aspiring ice hockey player who discovers a latent talent for golf, competing in tournaments to prevent his grandmother’s home from being foreclosed. The film was a commercial triumph, amassing nearly $40 million globally at the box office.
