The Arkansas Native American Cultural Center (ANACC) will host its 14th Annual Festival of Native American Arts and Cultures on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The festival will feature a variety of Native American arts, crafts, food, and music. There will also be demonstrations and workshops on traditional Native American skills. The festival is free and open to the public.
Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts Program to host workshop on Ozark Basketry
The Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts Program will host a workshop on Ozark Basketry on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The workshop will be taught by master basket maker Mary Ann Smith. Participants will learn the basics of Ozark basketry, including how to gather and prepare materials, and how to weave a traditional Ozark basket. The workshop is open to the public and costs $50.
Arkansas Arts Center to host exhibit on Arkansas Folk Art
The Arkansas Arts Center will host an exhibit on Arkansas Folk Art from November 12, 2023, to January 21, 2024. The exhibit will feature over 100 pieces of folk art from the Arkansas Arts Center’s collection. The exhibit will explore the history and traditions of Arkansas folk art, and will showcase the creativity and ingenuity of Arkansas folk artists.
Arkansas Historical Preservation Program to host workshop on historic preservation
The Arkansas Historical Preservation Program will host a workshop on historic preservation on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The workshop will be taught by historic preservationist John Fleming. Participants will learn about the basics of historic preservation, including how to identify and assess historic properties, and how to develop a preservation plan. The workshop is open to the public and costs $25.
Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism to host workshop on outdoor recreation
The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism will host a workshop on outdoor recreation on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The workshop will be taught by outdoor recreation experts from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the Arkansas Parks and Recreation Department, and the Arkansas Tourism Development Department. Participants will learn about the many opportunities for outdoor recreation in Arkansas, including hiking, biking, fishing, camping, and kayaking. The workshop is open to the public and costs $20.
