17-year-old arrested after accidental shooting leaves juvenile injured in Springdale

On New Year’s Day, a young person was shot just after midnight and another individual was arrested in connection with the shooting, as per a news release from the Springdale Police Department.

Sgt. Matthew Ray, spokesperson for the Police Department, stated that officers were called to Memory Lane around 1 a.m. following a report of a gun being fired. Upon arrival, they discovered a juvenile with a gunshot wound and administered life-saving measures. The victim was then transported to a local hospital for further treatment, and their current condition remains unknown.

According to the release, a 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody in connection with the shooting, which officers believe to have been accidental.
