Multiple Heartland Residents Report Feeling Earthquake in Northeast Arkansas

A small earthquake was felt in northeast Arkansas, just south of the Bootheel, with several people in the Heartland reporting the event. The USGS recorded a magnitude 3.6 earthquake 3.5 miles northeast of Etowah, Ark. at around 11:46 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27. This earthquake occurred approximately 40 miles south of Kennett, Mo. The USGS received almost 200 online reports from individuals who felt the quake as of 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Reports came in from Cairo, Illinois, Cardwell, Mo., Steele, Mo., Senath, Mo., Hornersville, Mo., and Caruthersville, Mo.
