David Wayne Willard was a beloved friend and family member to many before departing for Heaven on Tuesday evening, November 21, 2023. He was remembered with love by his wife, daughter, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews, as well as their families.
David was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., and was known for his active and award-winning childhood. He achieved his proudest moment as an Eagle Scout, and later moved to Arkansas to study music at Arkansas State University. He met his wife, Jane Ball, in Jonesboro, where they were married and eventually adopted their daughter, Annebeth, in 1980.
David spent his life dedicated to helping others through church music ministry, teaching at Cabot Public Schools, and being involved in the Christian music community throughout Arkansas. He was known for his loving and inclusive nature and was considered a leader in his family.
A celebration of David’s life was held on Tuesday, November 28th at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service the next day at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot, Ark. His memory will live on through the lives he touched, as well as the David Willard Memorial – Vocal Music Education Scholarship – “One Child at a Time” that will be presented to two honorable Cabot High School students in May.
David is remembered as a man of God, and his legacy will continue through the lives of those he touched and the scholarship that bears his name. A heartfelt obituary was thoughtfully written by his granddaughter, Avari Jackson.
