Texarkana Arkansas School District Superintendent Becky Kesler has announced her resignation, effective June 2024, after over 20 years with the district. Kesler, who has nearly four decades of experience in the education field, began her career with the district as principal of Union Elementary in 2003. During her tenure, Kesler oversaw the district hitting multiple milestones, including renovating Razorback stadium, a new middle school campus, band hall expansion, and several other projects. The district also increased the number of security officers and implemented new entry and visitor check-in procedures. Kesler’s focus on partnership-building led to the creation of the Arkansas High Collegiate Academy, which allows high school students to earn an associate degree and high school diploma simultaneously through the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana.
As she prepares to leave her position, Kesler expressed her commitment to continue working on the district’s initiatives, particularly in aligning salary schedules and decreasing compensation gaps. Her resignation will mark the end of an era for the Texarkana Arkansas School District, but she leaves behind a legacy of progress and dedication to the students and community.
