Linkin Park Names Emily Armstrong as New Co-Vocalist, Announces New Album and Tour

Linkin Park has officially announced a new chapter for the band, introducing Emily Armstrong from the rock band Dead Sara as their new co-vocalist. The revelation came during a live performance event in Los Angeles, marking Armstrong’s debut with the band. In addition to Armstrong, songwriter and producer Colin Brittain, known for his work with G Flip and Illenium, will join as the group’s new drummer.

The band also released a new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” which serves as the lead track from their upcoming album From Zero, set to release on November 15 via Warner Records. This marks Linkin Park’s first full-length album since 2017’s One More Light, released shortly before the tragic death of their lead vocalist, Chester Bennington.

New Era for Linkin Park

Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn have quietly reunited in recent years, with a renewed focus on exploring new musical territory. In a press release, Shinoda explained that the album title From Zero refers to the band’s early beginnings when their original name was Xero. He emphasized that the album represents a blend of past, present, and future, embracing their signature sound while venturing into new creative areas.

“Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future — embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life,” Shinoda said. “It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans.”

Shinoda also expressed excitement about the new lineup with Armstrong and Brittain, calling the band’s sound “vibrant and energized,” while still retaining the iconic touchpoints of Linkin Park’s music.

Tour and Upcoming Release

To promote From Zero, Linkin Park will embark on a six-date world tour, hitting major cities like Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota. The tour kicks off on September 11, 2024, at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, with pre-sale tickets available to the LP Underground fan club starting September 6, followed by a general sale on September 7.

This new era follows Linkin Park’s recent release of Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023), a compilation of their greatest hits over the past two decades. With Armstrong’s addition to the band and the launch of their upcoming album, Linkin Park is gearing up for a resurgence that blends their iconic sound with fresh, creative energy.
