Eminem Anticipates Grandfatherhood in His ‘Temporary’ Music Video

In an evocative unveiling, Eminem has confirmed he is on the verge of becoming a grandfather, a revelation he shared through his poignant music video for “Temporary.” With the demise of his notorious alter ego, Slim Shady, showcased in his recent album, the artist is embracing a fresh identity: Grandpa.

This heartfelt announcement comes via the artist’s daughter, Hailie Jade, who is expecting a child. The music video serves as a heartfelt homage to their enduring bond, featuring a compilation of cherished home videos dating back to 1999, alongside photographs capturing intimate moments between father and daughter. Interspersed with clips from Hailie’s nuptials in May, the visuals are enveloped by the stirring melody of “Temporary,” released on Thursday.

Among the poignant scenes, one particular moment stands out: a recent home video depicting Hailie presenting Eminem with a jersey inscribed with the title “Grandpa,” flaunting the number 1. As she hands him ultrasound images, his astonishment is palpable, encapsulating a moment of pure joy.

Hours following the video’s debut, Hailie confirmed her pregnancy on social media with a touching Instagram post captioned, “Mom & dad est. 2025.” Eminem’s representatives, however, have yet to respond to requests for commentary regarding this joyful development.

“Temporary,” a track from Eminem’s latest opus, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), is crafted as a heartfelt assurance to his daughter, conceived in the event of his passing. With lyrics that resonate with paternal devotion, he croons, “I’m watchin’ you right now, baby girl, I vow / I will protect you, your guardian angel,” a testament to his unwavering commitment, released in July.

Renowned for his deep-seated affection for Hailie, the “Lose Yourself” artist has consistently integrated her into his music, penning full tributes such as “Hailie’s Song” and “Mockingbird.” In “Mockingbird,” a beloved piece among fans, Eminem tenderly asserts, “What Daddy always tell you? Straighten up, little soldier,” a lyric he revisits in “Temporary.”

Hailie Jade, Eminem’s sole biological offspring with ex-wife Kim Scott, is also the sister to two of Scott’s daughters from previous unions, further enriching the tapestry of their family narrative.
